Minutes

Kevin: The IDE TF has followed the OpenAjax Alliance's processes to create an IDE WG. It has written a charter, proposed it to the membership for review, and today is the required all-member Creation Review phone call. We will quickly walk through the charter. If there are any questions or requests for clarifications, we will go over those, but assuming no objections or need for changes, the preferred resolution is to send the charter out for the OpenAjax members to review and vote about approval, and then forward to the Steering Committee for their review and approval.

Kevin: Most important section is mission and scope. Main focus is to define what metadata would look like to allow plugging Ajax libraries and controls into IDEs.

Kevin: The task force has been working on a requirements document that is far along. That would would be continued by the WG.

Kevin: Also, maybe some recommendations to IDE vendors that are more on the order of wish lists that reflect our research about what are good and useful features.

Kevin: Also, part of our mission is to create metadata for controls that while focused at author time also can be used for server-side processes. A single set of metadata for both of the cases.

Kevin: Charter defines timelines, coordination efforts with other groups, but most importantly the deliverables. The main important deliverable would be on the IDE Integration spec.

Kevin: Any questions or needs for clarification?

Kin: Proposal looks good to me.

Kin: Who is in the IDE TF?

Kevin: Listed on wiki page, about 20 organizations, including Adobe. But most of the work has been done by 6-7 companies.

Jon: We are happy about the involvement of the major IDE frameworks, with MS and Visual Studio, Eclipse, Sun/Netbeans, Adobe/Dreamweaver.

Kevin: Aptana is doing a lot of innovative work and TIBCO, my company, also has an IDE.

Kevin: We want to recruit among the component vendors. We have reached out to Infragistics.

Jon: ILOG is in that class and has participated quite a lot.

Kevin: Any objections to submitting to the members for vote?

Kin: No objections from Adobe.

Ingo: None from Aptana.

Kevin: We will assume that silence means acceptance.

(silence)

Kevin: OK, we will send the charter to the members for voting tomorrow.

Jon: I'll do that just like I did for Marketing and Interoperability Working Groups.
